An engineer is more than........!!!

"Engineering is not merely knowing and being knowledgeable, like a walking encyclopedia;engineering is not merely analysis;engineering  is not merely the possession of the capacity to get elegant solutions to non-existent engineering problems;engineering is practicing the art of the organized forcing of technological change.. Engineers operate at the interface between science and society..." (Dean Gordon Brown)

Today's post is all about what it means to be an engineer, and the above quote rightly describes that. The question today is why has this mindset developed that an engineer must be a bookish guy or gal who just studies and nothing else. In today's fast moving, fast changing world, an engineer has to be dynamic, he must have a sound technical knowledge but also he must be adept at the art of writing and speaking. For in today's world you need to be innovative and then be convincing enough to push your innovative ideas through into the corporate world.

People have often asked me why do I often engage myself as Master of Ceremonies, or technical session moderator or more recently the Model United Nation(this I will be participating in a few days) ?

My answer simply it teaches me the art and etiquettes of communication and allows you the chance to network and meet people who are in their own right legends of the fraternity of engineers, and  you never know you maybe fortunate to have some of their experience shared by them with me.

Over the years I have met so many wonderful people, who have taught me so much, and have been instrumental in making me a more confident and dynamic person, and all because I decided I will not follow the engineering stereotype, Break free, be dynamic,And they're are other people who share my enthusiasm for being more than just a technical guy who knows his way around the subject.

As a concluding note I would like to qoute

And remember this is one part of your personality, another part of you as an engineer, we strive for perfection, for we never arrive at perfection for it is a moving target for us, because in the words of Sir Henry Royce

Till next time Have a good day.
